WHAT SKILLS DO I NEED TO ENROL?

There are a couple of key prerequisites to you signing up to do this Course:

  • Basic level waterskiing/wake boarding – e.g.: complete a 200m run and a turn behind the boat

  • Lower/intermediate Surf Skills – you will need to be able to paddle out the back and be able to surf forehand and backhand on green face waves up to head high (4ft waves)

  • Be able to swim 400m (you will need to complete this in under 8 minutes for the RLSS NVBLQ Lifeguard Qualification – time has been allowed during the three-week course to get you up to speed – however if you are unable to meet this, you will receive either the SLSGB  (Surf Life Saving GB) Surf Coach Safety (SCS) Award or the Surf Coach Safety & Rescue Award (SCS&R) instead of the NVBLQ, depending on your swim time)

  • An all-round good level of fitness

Although boat driving skills are preferable – we can take candidates with little or no experience – we will have time to give you plenty of boat driving hours to get you up to the required standard.
