WAKE SURF COMPETITION TIME

A little bit about wake surfing at Camel Ski School… Back in 2012 we thought it might be fun to offer Wake Surfing on the Estuary and invested in our first Axis boat (See Below). Our current boat has come a long way since then and can create a massive wave behind the boat which you can surf – even if the conditions are flat. Since then Wake Surfing has become more and more popular, so this year we have decided to hold our first ever Wake Surf Competition on the Sunday 11th June…so save the date!

Who Can Enter? It’s open for anybody who fancies a go, from 8 years up. First and foremost, it’s just fun - so you will be judged partly on amusement value and partly on your technical skill.

We will be broadcasting the competition live from the boat back to a large screen outside the Ski School – so friends and family will be able to watch your performance while you do it.

Judging will be a mix of experts from the Ski School and a poll by the viewers – so if you enter, don’t forget to rent a crowd to come down and vote for you.

For this first event we are capping the number of competitors at 12 – so be quick to enter.  Entry fee is just £25 and all entrants will receive a bag of Camel Ski goodies.

On The Day…

The Café will be open for food and drink and we will even have the opportunity to spectate from the boats (call the office on 01208 863737 for details and to book a space)

The action will kick off at 10.00am, so whether you are surfing or just coming down for the vibes, a great coffee or some merch, this is going to be a great event and a chance to see what this ‘Wake Surfing’ is all about…

What about equipment? We have absolutely everything you will need, including a huge range of thick C-Skins wetsuits, wake surf boards and buoyancy aids - all included in the your entry fee. Just bring yourself and some swimmers. However, it is best to wear your own wetsuit if you have one.

Are there changing facilities and toilets? There are no changing facilities or toilets within the Ski School. Contestants can change on the Pontoon outside the School, so please bring towels/Dry Robes to enable this. Please note, we cannot hold any personal belongings in the office for you during your session so please bear this in mind when deciding what to bring with you. The nearest public toilets are in the Rock Quarry Car Park at the end of Rock Road.

Do you have lockers? We do have a number of small lockers available to hire for £1.00. Ideal for storing a small bag and personal belongings in when you are on the water.

What about parking? There is parking at the Rock Quarry Car Park at the end of Rock Road, about 320 metres beyond Camel Ski School. It is open 24 hours and parking fees apply. Payment by card or RingGo - Location Code: 15661. Please allow plenty of time to park before your session, especially in the busy holiday seasons.

What happens if I need to cancel, or the weather is bad? All cancellations must be made 24 hours prior to the competition. Unfortunately, any no-shows or cancellations within 24 hours cannot be refunded.

We will only cancel the competition if the conditions are dangerous - rain won’t stop us! For our full cancellation policy click here.
