Compliance & Crew Training Records
Watersports are among the highest-risk activities a yacht offers its guests. If something goes wrong, the questions come quickly: were the crew trained, what were they trained in, and who signed them off?
Our training gives the captain, management company and insurer clear answers.
Supporting best practice
Our programme follows recognised best practice for superyacht watersports. We cover crew training, risk assessment, choosing and defining a safe area of operation, supervision and lookouts, and guest briefings. Crew learn not only how to drive and coach, but also how to run a safe and well-managed watersports operation that will stand up to scrutiny from your captain, management company and insurer.
Your Crew Training Register
Every course includes a Crew Training Register for your yacht. It’s a formal record of each crew member’s training, ready to go into your Safety Management System and be shown at audit. For each crew member it records:
- Name, rank and date of training
- Boat(s) and equipment trained on
- Modules completed: boat handling, towing disciplines, coaching, rescue drills and operational scenarios
- Competence sign-off by Charlie for each module
- Any recommendations for further training
When crew change, the register shows exactly who is trained and what the gaps are. Our Crew Changeover day brings new crew up to the same standard and updates the register.
Recognised qualifications
Crew can also take the British Waterski & Wakeboard Ski Boat Driver Level 2 (SBD2) licence, with an optional International Certificate of Competence (ICC). This is a recognised towing qualification they keep for their careers.
