For those wanting to gain their BWSW Level 1&2 Certificate in Coaching Waterskiing & Wakeboard.
Introduction to BWSW Level 1 & 2 Certificate
On this course you will learn how to teach beginners, intermediates and advanced water-skiers and wakeboarders, as well as cover areas relevant to being a safe and effective coach like risk assessments, delivery skills, customer service and advanced driving skills. You will learn how to use the aid of a bar (or boom) for young beginners too.
Everyone on the course will perform a standard level of waterskiing, wakeboarding, deep water starts on a mono ski and drive/coach for one another.

Wednesday 8, Thursday 9, Friday 10 and Saturday 11 April 2026 – Instructors Course Level 1 & 2
COURSE COSTS:
BWSW Instructors Course Level 1&2:
£595 (to be paid to BWSW)
SBD2:
£200 (to be paid direct to Camel Ski)
ADDITIONAL COSTS:
BWSW Membership If you are not a member of BWSW you will need to join. Fees – see BWSW website for options: https://www.bwsw.org.uk/membership/ * Please note fees are subject to change for the new season
First Aid Certificate All candidates must hold a current First Aid Certificate (online courses will not be accepted). Please speak to BWSW about what First Aid Courses are acceptable and book accordingly.
Enhanced Disclosure (criminal records check) All candidates must hold an Enhanced Disclosure Certificate. Cost – £49.50 (This fee applies to any individual who is going to be working as a paid employee – there is no charge for volunteers)
Safeguarding and Protecting Children All candidates must hold a Safeguarding and Protecting Children Certificate. Cost – £20
Accommodation All candidates will need to arrange their own accommodation when taking the Course. There are a host of hotels, holiday lettings. Air B&B’s and campsites in the Rock area.
Once you have completed and submitted the online application form, BWSW will contact you to confirm acceptance and costs – these will then need to be paid to complete enrolment.
Once enrolled, Camel Ski will provide details of the Course Content and Itinerary.

Do I need to book in advance?

Who can do it?
Anyone aged 16 years or over (note, to gain qualified status coach you must be 17).
How many people can take the Course?
We can run the course for up to 5 pupils.
What do I need to bring?
Please check the local weather prior to taking the course and dress appropriately. We recommend that you bring plenty of warm clothing, even on warmer days it can get chilly out on the water, plus waterproofs and appropriate footwear for the boat. Other useful items to pack are a warm/sun hat and gloves, sunglasses and sun cream, and a water bottle. We provide buoyancy aids. We have a cafe at the Ski School selling a selection of hot and cold drinks and snacks.
Do you have lockers?
We do however have a number of small lockers available for clients which are ideal for storing a small bag and personal belongings in when you are on the water.
Is there a Café?
Yes, our Après Ski Café sells a selection of hot and cold drinks, toasted bagels, pastries cakes, crisps and snacks – perfect for breakfast or a light lunch. Outside seating available with views over the Estuary or takeaway to enjoy on the beach or boat.
What about equipment?
During your course you will be required to get to ski/wakeboard. We have absolutely everything you will need including a huge range of thick wetsuits, waterskis and buoyancy aids. However, it is best to wear your own wetsuit if you have one.
What about parking?
There is parking at the Rock Quarry Car Park at the end of Rock Road, about 320 metres beyond Camel Ski School. It is open 24 hours and parking fees apply. Payment by card or RingGo – Location Code: 15661. Please allow plenty of time to park before your session, especially in the busy holiday seasons. Please do not park the Camel Ski Staff Only parking area.


Before the course all candidates must hold the following:
BWSW Membership
BWSW Ski Boat Driver Level 2 (SBD2) qualification and have at least 10 hours boat driving experience – this can be completed at Camel Ski School
Be aged 16 years old (to be a commercial coach you must be 17 years old)
Be able to perform standard levels of waterskiing, wakeboarding and mono skiing
