There are plenty of ways to mark a birthday in Cornwall, but not many include some of the best watersports this beautiful county has to offer. Here at Camel Ski School we can organise birthday parties for everyone from age 5 to 80, with a range of activities that can be mixed and matched to suit the birthday person, the group and how adventurous everyone is feeling.

Who is it for?
The young adventurer
Forget pass the parcel. Inflatable rides, waterskiing and non-stop fun and laughs are the order of the day. The kind of birthday that gets talked about at school on Monday.
Teenagers
Wakeboarding, wake surfing and waterskiing for the age group that wants to actually push themselves. Technical enough to feel like a real achievement, fast enough to be genuinely exciting and definitely something most of their friends will not have done before.

Every session follows strict safety protocols. Our instructors are certified in water safety and first aid. Equipment is checked before each lesson and maintained to the highest standard. We read the water conditions and adjust sessions accordingly.

What age can children enjoy a watersports party?
Children can start waterskiing from age 5 using our ski trainer and bar. Kayaking, paddleboarding and inflatable rides are available from age 8. If you are not sure what is right for your child’s age and ability, give us a call and we will point you in the right direction.
What activities are available for a birthday party?
We offer waterskiing, wakeboarding, wake surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking and inflatable rides. Sessions can be mixed across activities to suit different ages and abilities within the group, so everyone gets to try something they enjoy rather than being limited to one activity.
Can we book the whole session exclusively for our group?
Yes. Get in touch directly to discuss a group booking and we will arrange a session that works for your numbers and the activities you want to do.
Is it safe for young children?
Yes. Safety is at the heart of everything we do at Camel Ski School. All sessions include a full safety briefing, a safety boat is on the water at all times, and all our instructors are fully qualified and trained in water safety. The Camel Estuary is sheltered and makes it one of the most forgiving environments in the UK to try watersports for the first time.
Are there changing facilities and toilets?
Most clients change on the Pontoon outside the School, so please bring towels/Dry Robes to enable this. However, we do have one shared changing room for those who prefer more formal facilities, but please be aware this may be full on busier days. Please note, we cannot hold any personal belongings in the office for you during your session so please bear this in mind when deciding what to bring with you.
Unfortunately we do not have any toilets for client use. The nearest public toilets are in the Rock Quarry Car Park at the end of Rock Road.
Do you have lockers?
We do however have a number of small lockers available for clients which are ideal for storing a small bag and personal belongings in when you are on the water.
Is there a Café?
Yes, our Après Ski Café sells a selection of hot and cold drinks, toasted bagels, pastries, cakes, crisps and snacks – perfect for breakfast or a light lunch. Outside seating available with views over the Estuary or takeaway to enjoy on the beach or boat.
What about equipment?
We have absolutely everything you will need to enjoy your time on the water with us including a huge range of thick wetsuits, waterskis and buoyancy aids – all included in the price of your session. Just bring yourself and some swimmers. However, it is best to wear your own wetsuit if you have one.
What about parking?
There is parking at the Rock Quarry Car Park at the end of Rock Road, about 320 metres beyond Camel Ski School. It is open 24 hours and parking fees apply. Payment by card or RingGo – Location Code: 15661. Please allow plenty of time to park before your session, especially in the busy holiday seasons.
How far in advance do we need to book?
As early as possible. Summer weekends in Cornwall book up fast and birthday party enquiries for peak season can come in months ahead. If you have a date in mind, get in touch sooner rather than later.
Where are you based?
We are on the Camel Estuary at The Pontoon, Rock Road, Rock, Cornwall, PL27 6LD. Rock is a short ferry ride from Padstow, which makes it easy to combine a morning on the water with an evening across the estuary for food and drinks.
Can parents and non-participants watch?
Yes. Spectators are very welcome and can come out on the boat at no extra cost if space allows. For younger children especially it is reassuring to have a parent nearby, and it also means nobody has to wait on the shore while everyone else is having fun.
How long is a birthday party session?
Session length depends on the activities chosen and the size of the group. Get in touch with the details and we will give you a clear idea of timings and how to structure the day.
How many children can you accommodate?
Get in touch with your group size and we will confirm what we can arrange. We are experienced at running sessions for birthday groups of all sizes and will do our best to make it work.
